Aliens or otherwise more formally known as extra-terrestrials when referring to possible life from outer-space have fascinated people for many decades and became a huge part of pop-culture even more so after productions such as War of the Worlds, Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind and the X-Files TV series (which is awesome btw, watch it if you have not). When thinking about ET’s what comes to my mind in simple terms are green and gray aliens, the typical old-timey description of such creatures from outer-space, most likely brought up popularity by Hollywood movies and other related shows and movies, as well as that, cover-up comes to my mind, the conspiracy realm plays a large part now in the world of ET believers, mostly again thanks to movies and TV, could the government have knowledge of ETs? Could they be hiding it from us or would they if they did know? And also alien abductions… are they just ramblings of a crazy person or someone with mental illness, perhaps a trick of the brain or are some of them real? Have select humans been tested on by ET’s?
To me when thinking more deeply about it, I feel you have to understand that aliens from outer-space could be something very different to what someone would simply presume one would be and look like, perhaps even being way beyond our comprehension, sentient space dust anyone? I think that there is life out there somewhere, since the universe is so mind-bogglingly large and to not believe there is something else apart from us out there is both foolish and naïve. The fact that we ourselves exist plays hugely into the possibility that life has happened elsewhere, it is possible as it has already happened, although some argue that the chances are so crazily low that we were a one-hit wonder, but for me personally, I don’t believe this, again just due to the sheer size of the known universe, it HAS to have happened again, somewhere, in my opinion.
So, let’s get into 5 curious Alien encounters…
1. First widely-documented Alien Abduction

This first story describes one of the first ever Alien abduction claims to have been widely-documented. Alien Abductions have been a part of the realm of urban legend and mystery for a very long time now and is one of the most common supposed encounters that a human may have with an alien-being from another world. Many of them can be put down to mental health related delusions or delusions from drug-use, stress, sleep paralysis, tiredness among other factors, but there are also a number of stories out there of alien abductions that cannot simply be put down to these conclusions, in fact many cannot be and so remain unexplained as there is often no way to prove it did or did not happen.
Stories of alien abductions are often very similar and include memory-loss, time-loss, bright lights, unidentified flying objects (UFO’s), markings of the skin, unexplained change, loss or damage of belongings and experiments performed on the abductee’s, in some cases even human and alien cross-breeding. Many times, what happened to the victims will come back to them in bits and pieces in nightmarish dreams which can make the victim/s more emotional and erratic than usual as well as causing great psychological stress, isolation and illness, perhaps even suicidal behavior.
Many of these people can also be reluctant to come forward with their stories for fear of being labeled as crazy or mad and receiving abuse from people who simply can neither comprehend or relate to what the victim is trying to say or explain.
This story we are about to go into describes the 1961 Alien encounter and abduction experienced by Barney and Betty Hill as they drove their ‘57 Chevy Bell Air down small country roads in the New Hampshire White Mountains within the US. As they drove on this dark September night along seemingly empty roads, they noticed a strange light that appeared to be following them.
After this strange event they eventually arrived home in the early morning hours, but things were far from normal… a number of strange events had seemingly afflicted them without any prior knowledge of it, for one their watches had stopped working, for some reason they felt messy and uncomfortable and somehow Barney’s shoes had become marked and worn and Betty’s dress had been torn. To the complete confusion of Barney and Betty Hill, they had lost at least 2 hours of time, just like that, with the click of a finger, 2 hours of time, seemingly wiped from their minds.
At some point, due to the baffling events and phycological torment caused by the unexplained incident, Barney and Betty Hill sought the help of a psychiatrist in an attempt to try and rectify what had happened to them, on that late September night in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What followed were shocking accounts revealed by the Hill’s, as they apparently begun to recall the time that they had lost.
They described strange Gray creatures whose eyes were wide, these creatures led them into a large and wide metallic disk where the Hill’s were examined by the seemingly other-worldly beings before they had their memories erased. They also recalled more of the UFO stalking them through the mountains and countryside, teasing them back and forth and messing around with their cars electronics and engine before eventually abducting them.
The accounts of the unexplained experiences detailed by the Hill’s were apparently serious enough that the US Government and Air Force’s then secret Project Blue Book decided to investigate the Hill’s claims further. Project Blue Book was a secretive initiative put in place by the US Government and handled by the Air Force to investigate claims of UFO sightings, it was established after the June 1947 UFO sightings made by civilian pilot Kenneth Arnold. These investigators were no Cryptozoologists or UFO hobby enthusiasts, these were official US Air Force investigators sanctioned by the US government, making the case ever more interesting.
The incident that effected the Hill’s ended up shaping the way we talk about abductions to this very day with many of the characteristics experienced by the Hill’s often being very similar to many apparent alien abductions that have happened since then, it has also shaped the Movie and TV sci-fi scene. The incident also inspired both a best-selling book (The Interrupted Journey) and a movie (The UFO Incident) of which the movie can be viewed on Youtube for free.
2. Battle of Los Angeles – Alien Encounter? Japanese Attack? Or a Weather Balloon?
The so-dubbed Battle of Los Angeles was an incident that happened in the skies over Los Angeles, California, USA in the late hours of February 24th and culminated on the early morning hours of February 25th 1942. The incident involved apparent unidentified craft in the air which resulted in Anti-Aircraft guns firing into the night sky to try and take out whatever the intruder/s was/were.
Despite AA-gun firepower being heavily concentrated on the target nothing was brought down and to this day it isn’t exactly known what really happened on that late night/early morning. At first it was speculated to have been an air-raid attack by the Japanese due to the US recently going to war with them and the day before this a Japanese submarine had fired shells out of the sea of Ellwood off the Californian coast targeting refinery installations in Santa Barbara.
Despite this though the then Secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox, denied it being a Japanese attack and said that the incident was simply a false alarm caused by anxiety and “war nerves”, soon after this announcement the idea of a cover-up begun spreading. A statement sometime later by the Army claimed that the incident may have in-fact been a psychological warfare operation caused by enemy agents using commercial aircraft. But the simple fact of the matter was that no one exactly knew what happened.
7 years later in 1949 the United States Coast Artillery Association concluded that the incident was caused by a weather balloon that had been sent up in the early hours and that once the shooting begun “the imagination created all sorts of targets in the sky and everyone joined in”. Another 34 years later in 1983 the U.S Office of Air Force History echoed the statement that the firing was caused by a weather balloon and “war nerves”.
There are though many skeptics of the official conclusions by the US Government and military, many claimed that if it was a weather balloon it should have been easy to shoot down. Eventually the notion and conspiracy theory that it was an alien visitation gone wrong also started to be spread through UFO hobby enthusiasts and conspiracy groups.
And so, it is left up to us to choose what we believe it to have been, was it simply a weather balloon like the government and military claimed? Was it actually a Japanese air raid or a psychological warfare operation? Or was it an alien visitation gone awry? We will likely never fully know as nothing quite exactly adds up.
3. School Children Alien Encounter
And so, we move on to another apparent alien visitation, with multiple witnesses making it another interesting case as it was not simply just witnessed by one singular person where the claims can be more easily brushed off.
The incident happened in the town of Ruwa in Zimbabwe on September 16th 1994. Over 60 school children out during recess witnessed strange unknown flying objects in the air and also saw a number of them land in a nearby field where then at least two unusual alien beings are said to have emerged from one of the crafts in-front of the school children, a number of whom were scared by this point and retreated back into the school.
Overall the children who witnessed the event described it as being scary and also said the crafts had made very strange and unusual noises. The descriptions and children’s drawings of the two beings included them being bipedal in nature, such as that of a man, but with other-worldly features such as elongated eyes which were black with white pupils, the head being like that of a vertical oval shape.
The children often described the aliens as if they had sinister ulterior motives and the extent of descriptions of what the children felt when looking at the alien beings could have indicated that the beings were perhaps somewhat telepathic or had a way of manipulating emotions.
The incident has become one of the most well-known and documented apparent alien visitations and one of the only known mass visitations to have happened and the fact that dozens of children had the same experience and very similar if not the exact same descriptions makes it ever more captivating.
A number of the children who have been interviewed as adults on the incident since still continue to believe what they witnessed on that day was of another world. Videos of the interviews with the school children and more recent interviews with them as adults can be found on Youtube, the children also made many drawings on the incident of which can easily be found in Google Images and also seen on the videos.
4. Salyut 7 “Celestial Beings”
And now let us move on to a wonderous visitation, something that was witnessed by six Russian cosmonauts on the Salyut 7 in the depths of space itself. The Salyut 7 was a Russian space station in low-Earth orbit that was active from April 1982 until February 1991.
The event in question happened in July 1984 aboard the Salyut 7 and was witnessed by six Russian cosmonauts, making it yet another incident to not so easily be brushed off as it wasn’t just seen by one singular person, it also wasn’t just witnessed once, but it was witnessed twice, by two separate crews of three, two different teams on two separate occasions saw the exact same event unfold before their eyes. The first three who witnessed it were Leonid Kizim, Vladimir Solovyov and Oleg Atkov, the second three who witnessed it 5 days later were Vladimir Dzhanibekov, Svetlana Savitskaya and Igor Volk, the last three cosmonauts were also still on the space station and so also saw the event for a 2nd time alongside the newcomers.
The cosmonauts described what they saw as large glowing angel-like manifestations, at least 8-feet tall that were able to float and glide through space itself seemingly without any damaging/fatal side effects that a human would get if they were to do the same thing. The celestial beings were also described as having very long wings, like that of an airliner and that they projected an overall feeling of peace and tranquility, apparently even smiling at the cosmonauts. according to the cosmonauts they did not seem sinister or aggressive in the slightest.
Many attempts at explanations have come about to try and explain what happened up in the quiet depths of space during that July month, some say that stress and tiredness from the work the cosmonauts did on the station may have caused hallucinations, others have looked to the divine and said that these were angels from the above, watching over us, others have claimed they were harbingers of the end times come to warn us, while others say they were some kind of outer-space aliens that were observing our work.
5. The Firefight near Dulce
And now we move on to perhaps one of the most compelling alien encounters of all time and possibly one of the only apparent firefights between alien beings and humans. For a long while there had been a conspiracy theory that a joint human-alien underground facility existed under the Archuleta Mesa near to the town of Dulce close to the Colorado-New Mexico state borders within the US. The supposed aliens that were being worked with were typical grey aliens who were tall, bald and slender with large eyes.
According to conspiracy theorists and apparent whistleblowers, the aliens were conducting unethical experiments on humans at the base with permission from the US military and government, but that the joint operation between the aliens and the humans was a shaky and weak one. Eventually this shaky joint-operation broke down and resulted in a firefight between the military and the alien battalion that was stationed at the apparent Dulce base level seven, which is what the secret area was known as.
The firefight begun after Phillip Schneider, a whistleblower who alleged to be a geological engineer working for the US military was partaking in a secret operation to construct underground tunnels to connect up various other secret underground facilities across the US, apparently called “Deep Underground Military Bases”.
During his work to construct tunnels under the Dulce base Schneider and his men ended up having technical problems with their equipment and after attempting to fix the problem they ended up encountering grey aliens, after this all hell broke loose as a large firefight broke out between the military men alongside Schneider and the grey aliens, they had come across underground. Schneider claimed the Grey Aliens had the ability to shoot lasers from their chests, in the ensuing chaos 57 soldiers were apparently killed and a number of the Greys also died, Schneider was only one of three to survive the incident, but not without grievous injury, Schneider had some of his fingers and a leg burnt off by the Grey’s lasers, proof of this was also shown on numerous videos in conferences done by Schneider, where it could be visibly seen that he had missing fingers.
Schneider also said that if his death was ever by suicide, that it would likely have been murder to keep him quiet, this was in reference to him believing he was being closely watched by the government and felt often his life was in danger from people deep in the US government and military, strangely in 1996 Schneider was found dead with a catheter cord wrapped around his neck, it was labelled a suicide…
There are much and more stories from the area that surrounds the Dulce Air Base from both law enforcement officials and normal civilians, even till this day, claims of UFO’s and aliens are still prevalent in the area in and around Dulce.
