Can Emily Thornberry Make It?

The deadline is today to make it on to the ballot by either getting the backing of 33 local labour constituency parties or 3 trade unions or Labour affiliates. All but one of the standing candidates have this required backing.

Emily Thornberry continues to struggle currently sitting on 30 CLP nominations, she is about a whisker off of making it on to the ballot but she is running out of time… there are about 14 CLPs who have not yet nominated a candidate for Labour leader so she still has a chance, but it’s going to be close…

I will be keeping an eye on the CLP Nominations twitter to see if she can make it. I will update here whether she does or not.

UPDATE: Cardiff North CLP has nominated Emily Thornberry, she now needs two more, it’s going to be very close… I believe there are about only 2-3 more CLPs left that can declare a candidate so Thornberry will need at least two or all of them.

UPDATE 2: The CLP Nominations twitter believes it is no longer possible for Emily Thornberry to make it on to the April ballot.
