Jess Phillips Out

Jess Phillips has dropped out of the Labour Leadership Race, declaring she is not the one to unite the party at this current time. Starting off as an underdog, Phillips got an unexpected boost of support from MPs and MEPs in the first requirement round to qualify for the full election.

But it appears she may not have been able to secure the backing she needed from local constituency parties and trade unions. Either the backing of 33 local constituency parties are needed or the backing of 3 trade unions.

So far Keir Starmer has been the only one to fully qualify for the Leadership Election. Meanwhile Long-Bailey and Lisa Nandy have the backing of one trade union each. Thornberry so far does not have backing from a union and may have to rely on constituency parties backing.

I will still be posting up the Jess Phillips profile later in Feb but I will make sure to note clearly she has now dropped out.
