Hey all. Hope you are having a good Friday. I do not have too much to talk about in regards to this week. Most the stuff we went over was not to do with ServiceNow course which officially begins from the 30th next week.
This week more went over topics of being ready and prepared, knowing who to contact when help is needed, going over topics to do with wellbeing, CVs and other job-related and health-related prepardness for what is to come over the next 9-10 weeks.
It is very good that the Prince’s Trust is creating a comfortable and supportive environment for these programmes and opportunities.
So, let’s talk about some other things…
UK By-Elections
The two anticipated Westminster by-elections in the UK (Wakefield, and Tiverton & Honiton), both of which are Conservative defences, seem to finally have a date. Both will be happening on the same day – 23rd June.
So it is going to be quite an interesting day as the Conservatives have a big chance of losing both seats. I very much still expect the Conservatives to lose Wakefield. If one or worse both are lost then Boris Johnson could face great pressure to step aside – even more so with such coming on top of the Sue Gray report with lockdown rule breaking.
Even with that report Boris Johnson seems to still have managed to cling on – but how much more can he take? How close are we until the number of letters at the 1922 Committee triggers a confidence vote on Boris Johnson?
We shall have to wait and see what happens…
US Midterm Primaries
Speaking of elections, the US primaries for the upcoming Midterm elections later this year have kicked off. This is where parties get in their candidates to contest the various seats and positions that will be up for election in November.
The elections I am most interested in are those for Governor, Senators, and US House seats. Both the Senate and US House are in the balance with Democrats hoping to solidify their majority in the Senate and hold the House against the Republicans.
But as is usual it will be an uphill battle for the party who is in power, with Democrat Joe Biden as President the the Democrats having control of the House since 2018 and the Senate since 2020. As it stands polls seem to suggest that Republicans have a slight advantage on the generic ballot.
But it is still far too early to make any interesting predictions on the outcome of all that. For now the primaries are interesting for the sole reason of who these candidates will be – and it is even more interesting seeing how many Trump-backed candidates make it through or get rejected by voters.
Yep, Trump is still very much an influential figure in US politics. But a number of his backed candidates have so far failed to make it in. Others have been successful though. I am currently looking into the races and doing some research on this. The primaries will see how much sway Trump still has with his core base, whether its wavering and so on.
I am hoping to release little posts on this over the next so many weeks as the primaries continue on. The posts aim to give information in an easy to digest format that is not overwhelming. It includes little interesting facts, highlights Trump-backed candidates, and anything else of import. These posts will be impartial and not include side-taking, but purely aim to give the facts.
And it should be another little thing I can work on in my spare time in-between studying to enable this blog to continue its activity.
Upcoming Jubilee Weekend
And finally – the Jubilee weekend for the Queen’s Sapphire Jubilee is fast approaching. This means an extra long 4-day double weekend for many from 2nd-5th June thanks to two bank holiday’s specially moved to there in anticipation of the celebrations.
It is an historic occassion to make the most of and as I said in my previous post on it – why not use it as a chance to check out what’s happening in your community whether you support the monarchy or not? Nothing wrong with having fun, forging connections, and strengthening the community.
In my area there is going to be an event happening at our park for the four days and so I am looking forward to heading down there and checking it out. So – go and have some fun… or not, your choice!
I will probably give an update on what I thought about the events happening in my area on the next coming Friday.
