Delving into the world of Blogging – Lifestyle

So I thought I would start a blog and get doing something with my life because I am just sitting here in my room most of the time searching up activities to do on the internet but then just being mostly bored a lot of the time. I have Autism so in reality it is just hard to do much because with Autism you just have no social life most the time and I thought it is probably about time that I should get into something somewhat social, so here I am trying this out.

I have had one smaller blog for a game that I still currently run and it has a few thousand likes/followers and it is a Facebook page, but of course you can only go so far with a Facebook Page that only focuses on something very specific and the games I focused on only really had fairly small bases and you can’t really earn anything from doing it and you are limited on features. So after talking to my sister she suggested that I wrote things well and using the fact I have Autism I could start up some sort of blog related to Autism and just type stuff about it. I don’t really know where this is going to head off to and just going in blind really and maybe it will just amount to nothing but at least I am finally doing something. This blog won’t 100% focus on Autism.

It is going to be a hybrid blog that focuses on three subjects. The first is lifestyle, to do with stuff like Autism and other things that happen in my life and related such as hobbies and all. The 2nd is Mystery to do with things such as the unexplained like the paranormal, aliens and other mysterious unexplained events as that is one of my great interests. The 3rd will be politics, but I will remain as neutral as possible and my politics blogposts will mostly focus on election analysis from UK and US elections, sometimes I may do a blogpost on political news, but again I will be as neutral as possible.

I like to ramble on about things that interest me hence the name I have chosen for this blog – The Weekly Rambler.

So just to introduce myself I am writing this from scratch right now on 24th July 2018 and I am currently 20 years old and I live with my older sister and younger brother. I have never had a job, never really had friends except for a limited few times where it never lasted and I have never had a girlfriend. I am interested in a range of things/hobbies such as worldwide politics and events (I like to keep up to date with the latest news), Geography, Clash Royale and other strategy games, watching Netflix TV shows such as Stranger Things and Grimm (normally with my sister or on my own) the type of shows I like to watch are fantasy, action, mysterious themes and the such, some of the TV Shows I have enjoyed most are the ones previously mentioned as well as the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, you know, most of the typical ones so I guess I am not too unique there, I also like Lego (I have boxes and boxes of Lego and numerous Lego models on display in my room), I like reading books, I have read all of the Harry Potter books, all of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books and I am currently reading my way through the Game of Thrones books which I am very much enjoying, currently on the 2nd book; so who knows I will probably bring that sort of stuff into my Lifestyle blogs now and again I guess, it’ll be a mix really alongside with how it works with Autism whenever it is nessesary to compare or the such.

I am currently not in any sort of education, I finished school with pretty lack lustre grades and I only did 2 years of college before I had to quit before I just had a mental breakdown, I could not handle the social interactions and college just felt way too alien to me and I was constantly depressed even though it was only 3 days a week. It makes me sad to think that I didn’t really get anywhere in education and it really has put a dampner on my confidence in the ability to do things, including even starting this blog, I am typing this out right now constantly stressing on how long it will be until I run out of content, won’t know what to type next and so on. I worry a lot in fact about many things, I have quite bad anxiety about both life and my health and the health one can get pretty bad at times, once I was so scared I had DVT for example that I just shut down completely for at least a month and before I knew it time had just flew by and at that point I felt I had to do something and so I tried CBT. CBT on someone with Autism though in my opinion didn’t really work out and by the point I got there most my anxiety on the current matter had resolved itself anyways.

Also if you don’t know what DVT is, do yourself a favour and don’t Google it. I don’t want to trigger your anxiety, it really isn’t needed. If you already know what it is and it does not bother you, well then, good for you!

So anyways that is just a chip into my current life at the moment, don’t get me wrong, life is good, but I really want to move on to something but I have no idea when and how to even go about it in any such way. I want to type out more about me but I figure that I should probably not use up all the content on myself in one post and split it up over many of my Lifestyle blog posts over the period I run this blog, who knows, maybe I already failed right on post one, I hope not!

I do hope that this blog attracts a wide range of people but I also specifically want it to connect to other people on the Autism spectrum! I also want this blog to help people without Autism understand it a bit better, the bare basic simples simply are that we often have very little ability to be social but it is not only that, Autism can increase anxiety, it increases your senses often, as in noise sensitivity, which can be greatly distressing and also just getting overwhelmed by having too many people around you or too many things going on at once, Autism is a wide ranging disability that comes in many forms so often each person with Autism has it slightly or a lot more differently to another person with Autism, this is what is called the Autism Spectrum. The type of Autism I have is Selective Mutism and I also have Aspergers as well. Many people think Autism makes it so the individual is dumb, can’t speak, has no intelligence and flounders around all the time making noises, this simply is not the case for many people with Autism and is a very narrow minded view of the condition.

Many other people also seem to think the complete opposite, that people with Autism, or more specifically Aspergers, are high functioning super geniuses with the knowledge to outwit everyone else, again this is simply and most often not the case (so keep that in mind Big Bang Theory fans!), many people with Aspergers are only very intelligent in the specific things they are interested in while not being as good at things they don’t really care about, so for me for example I like Science and Geography so I am fairly intelligent at those sort of subjects but I hate maths so I am very bad at that. It is different for everyone and it really just depends on their interests. A lot of the time the interest is also very, very specific within a given subject so the person won’t be that good at most topics related on a given subject, but, they will be extremely good at one very specific thing to do with said subject, so for example someone might be good at naming cars just from looking at them, right down to what they exactly are, when they came out, other specialties etc, but they won’t really know much else about cars, such as the mechanical knowledge for example.

This applies to me with Geography as another example, the part I find most interesting, which is a very small part, is where countries are and their capital cities, I can name over 100 capital cities from memory and I can find pretty much any country on Earth and I can locate all 50 US states within 2 and a half minutes and I am not even a US citizen, but when the Georgraphy starts going into rocks and sediments and the make up of land and such I am not as interested in those parts so my knowledge on those sort of things are limited.

So as a start I hope the above can help some neurotypical people further understand the wide ranges of Autism and how each one of us is still different from each other in quite large ways, Autism is very diverse.

Being this is my first post it is probably not going to be seen by many, which is kind of a shame, but it is not a big deal really as these sort of things always start off slow, but at the same time I hear this can be a good thing as the embarrasing beginner mistakes made from starting a blog won’t be seen by too many people.

So I look forward to starting up this blog from now and typically I will aim for 1 post per week on various topics from Lifestyle, Mystery and sometimes Politics that I am interested in. I’ll also often try and combine that with Autism and I will probably post posts on Autism at times, it really depends, I will need to think up ideas as for now this is all I have, but I am organising and by the time this post is out I will probably already have several other posts ready to go.

Thank you to all who have seen and read this entire post! I hope you decide to stick around for more now you’ve had a taste and share this far and wide!
