Me and Gaming! Part 2 of 2

And so we continue on from where we left off on the previous post… on to the Playstation 3.

Eventually after a while on one Christmas we did get a Playstation 3 which was a big part of my early teen years and my first proper experience of online play when we got into Playstation Network, one of the games I use to always play online was Grand Theft Auto 4 and it’s later Grand Theft Auto: Ballad of Gay Tony DLC, I use to play Free Mode Online on those two games so much it was unreal, it was always centered at the airport though… and… always… a.. battle… over.. the.. HELICOPTERS! This was because they could shoot and you could pretty much control the entire server with one if you was that mean.

Grand Theft Auto 4 and its two DLC’s were also the first GTA games me and my brother actually completed in the story mode, which saw us making leap from silly kid gamers to more serious teen gamers who actually bothered playing the games properly to their full potential! We also made tons of random “friends” on PS Network, mostly from Grand Theft Auto 4/Ballad Gay Tony. It was good times, none of them we knew, but we often played with them on numerous games online.

One such series we often also played online were the many Call of Duty games, namely COD 4: Modern Warfare, MW2 and MW3 of which also had awesome story modes that we completed. Black Ops was also great in story mode and zombies online.

Then we also had the LEGO series of Videogames, now this was more prominent back on PS2, I just forgot to remember it until now, me and my brother constantly played Lego Star Wars trilogy games and Lego Batman the videogame as well on the PS2. Lego Indiana Jones was another good one as well, but on PS3 it made a come back and was EVEN better, coming with a level editor, me and my brother messed around with that all the time!

And finally another fond memory of PS3 gaming was the Little Big Planet games, collecting things is what I am all about and that was a big part of these games and the community side of the game was fantastic, you could play random levels made by others for hours and hours on end. And also messing around in the level editor was also fun.

I could go on much further about the part the PS3 played in my life but this is it for now.

One of my earliest steps into online gaming though was on a desktop, you know, the PC master race as they call themselves when it comes down to gaming, well I was never that, ever, could not afford it and frankly could not also be bothered with it, consoles were just more simple, but I did play around with a few games on Desktop/laptop anyways, ones I could run. Roblox was one such game and was another one of my first steps into online gaming, although truly if I am being honest, my first ever step into an online game was this game called Desert Operations, a strange war simulator game, you never saw any action take place, it was all in the background, but it was still fun, being part of and making alliances and just chatting to others on the game, sadly the game is not so popular now and quite inactive, but it was such fun as one of my first real experiences with an online game of sorts.

But Roblox is where it all really went down, I so loved that game and I would probably download it again now even, I don’t know what is stopping me. But there is just such a variety to choose from on Roblox, it was exciting being young on the game as it made it nostalgic and it had so much to offer, and everytime you got some Robux instead of tickets you got that special excitement, even though you could not really do anything with such a small amount. I loved the survival and Tycoon games the most. Thinking about it now I think I will be downloading it again at some point, how could I not? It was so great and so nostalgic and it is still going strong!

Terraria and Minecraft were two other games I also had great fun playing, although I am still mad at Terraria for glitching at the Wall of Flesh boss so I could never make it to Hard Mode… I am so salty about that still and have never attempted to try the game again since, but it was still great. On Minecraft I just loved exploring the world and surviving and also exploring different online servers that were out there.

Flash games were once what took up the most of my attention on PC back in the day, when they were prominent, they are not so much now sadly as times have moved on, but my two favourite websites for those games were Armor Games and Kongregate of which I’d check out daily and then I’d head over to ArcadePreHacks to cheat at the games, hah, yeah I know, stupid and dumb, but I was a kid back then and it was awesome. Some of my favourite Flash Games were Black Navy War 1 and 2, Stick War 1 and 2, Kingdom Rush, Age of War and so, so many others that I can’t remember the names of, some really awesome ones out there though, so search for yourself if you never really got into Flash Gaming!

Some of my favourite times on PC were spent playing a game called Backyard Monsters, a further inroad to my discovery of online gaming, Backyard Monsters I at first played on Kongregate before I moved over to Facebook, it was so great, although the company who owned the game was known for being greedy (which they were), but it was still a great game, though now it is no longer updated and been left to hackers, I think the servers are still up on Facebook, but I would not suggest playing it anymore as it hardly runs well as the servers are not kept up to date anymore.

After that I moved on to another one of their games called VEGA Conflict, I even made a seperate small blog out of it on a Facebook page, though I did quit the game after a few years, as it got boring and money grabbing, but it was good times, especially the early days of the game.

My escapade into Steam was small but interesting, some of my favourite games from there was the Binding of Isaac games and Plants Vs. Zombies. But I didn’t get too much into Steam games so that was about it really.

I also got a DSi XL in my teen years on one of my birthdays and I loved it! One of the things I remember of it most fondly was Flipnote Studio, I loved going on there and seeing everyone’s creations, it was so awesome! I also loved the camera a part of the DSi and all its other interesting built in features.

Currently now my main consoles/gaming devices are the Wii U, PS4 and Ipad Air. I currently actively play Clash Royale (competively) and one of my only competitive daily games, I am a Legendary tier player on it (best is 4,300 trophies right now) and also the Simpsons: Tapped Out which is a nice casual game where you rebuild Springfield. I also play Clash of Clans but I am pretty casual on that and not super competitive. On my PS4 I often just watch Netflix and from time to time do a bit of Crash Bandicoot or Fortnite, no, I am not very good or competitive at Fortnite, but it is good to pass the time when bored. I am also planning to get the re-made Ratchet and Clank game based on the first game! I am also currently going through Dark Souls 3, I already know what happens as I have watched entire playthroughs numerous times on Youtube, but I still wanted to try it myself, and yes, it’s as hard as they say!

On my Wii U I often play Mario Maker or Super Mario Color Splash (which I still need to complete) and Super Mario 3D World which I am currently going back through all the levels and collecting the stars I missed. I also love coming back to New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U. I just love all the Mario games and I very much hope Nintendo never stops making them! Despite how repetitive they may sometimes get, they’re still awesome to me.

And that is as brief (as I could make it) snapshot into my time of gaming. Yes it seems like a lot, but I am still only a casual. Imagine if I was not! This post would probably be many times larger or maybe it would be more focused on a specific game genre rather than being a bit muddled and all over the place. But meh! I will probably do posts in the future more focused on specific genres.

So thanks for reading and please stick around if you enjoyed! And share far and wide!!
