Well, we’re right into the 4-day Platinum Jubilee weekend now – making sure not to accidentally call it the Sapphire Jubilee. 70 years on the throne, huh? Now that is a long time.

I myself am using it as an excuse to eat a bit and drink some soda/fizzy drinks – namely Dr. Pepper which I have got a big box in the fridge for me and my brother this weekend.

I think if anything, you should just make the Jubilee weekend into a time to relax, have fun, and eat and drink. At least do that if there is no events around in your area or if you do not want to take part in anything that is happening in your area.

A 4-day weekend itself is an extreme rarity so make the most of it whether you support the monarchy or not! Of course though, I would encourage people to do things in their community for the Jubilee, but for many it may just not be there thing – so take some time for yourself instead if so.

I have also been having a good time watching Britain’s Got Talent each day this week. Always good to give yourself some time and fun. Working yourself to death defeats the purpose of any goals your chasing.

Programming Course

This week on my course was more of an introduction week into how things are going to work. Such as with virtual classes and on-demand learning. We got given a code for an e-book we’re going to be using in the course. They showed us the Now Platform used by ServiceNow, some of how it works – I really loved the App Engine.

The App Engine was a feature that allows you to create an application without needing to actually code/program anything. It’s really cool and easy to use. I never even considered the concept for such a thing but it feels quite genius really. And the applications integrates on to the platform itself so everything is kept central and simple. For sure the area I am most interested in.

I call it the programming course but the programming – HTML, CSS and JavaScript – is actually all crammed into one of the weeks out of the 10. The app engine exists for the simple purpose of not needing to have any programming knowledge, but they are going to teach us Javascript anyway to make sure we’re well rounded I guess.

Another part of the course that sounds interesting is IT Service Management (ITSM) – basically a big guide on how to do everything in IT service delivery. I do like when things are defined and laid out.

The course includes learning about fundamentals of ServiceNow, using and developing in our own Instances – this is just an area where we can build our own applications. It will play a big part in our final project.

The course will also just go over tons of other areas to do with using ServiceNow platform and all that. It will be easier to explain how it was and what exactly happened once I reach and do all these things. But it is all sounding exciting.

Decorate Your Balcony – If You Have One

Image my own.

So since I live at a flat I obviously do not have a garden and my flats do not have communal gardens either. But one thing we do get are balconies looking over the street from the front. Nothing spectacular to see but they are good when you want to quickly step out for some fresh air or hang washing during warm days.

Our balconies are not all that great looking by themselves – messy concrete floor and a bulky metal railing is all it pretty much is. But you can make it look a lot better! I have begun making my balcony into a place of my own.

The first step to this was to buy some fake roll out grass and fit it across the ugly looking floor – and just like that the balcony already looks a million times better. You can see it in the picture above, I didn’t think to take a picture beforehand – just think gray, dull and minging. The fake grass looks far better and gives a more relaxed atmosphere.

Next up will be plants, me and my social worker (who helpfully laid the fake grass for me) are planning to build some planters eventually to fit over the railing. We are also planning to have plants growing up certain parts of the wall out on the balcony. And to increase privacy I shall also be getting some kind of cover put over the railing eventually.

I shall also be getting a little table and chairs to go out there as well. I look forward to sitting out there on hot Summer days and early mornings, perhaps with a cup of tea, to relax and cool off.

So – if you have a small area like a balcony and you’re not too fond of it – decorate and spruce it up and make yourself fond of it and make it a little place for yourself to escape away to. You might as well because you’re rent is going towards it whether you use it or not.

Well that’s it for this week. Have a great rest of the Jubilee weekend – or if you live outside of the UK and Commonwealth Realm just have a good normal weekend.
